GLASGOW – Joe W. Houchens, 75, of Glasgow, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at his residence.

Helen Taylor Mitchell
BOWLING GREEN – Helen Taylor Mitchell, 69, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
She was the daughter of the late Clifford Taylor and Vela Doss Taylor.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Strode Funeral Home, Scottsville, with burial in Durham Springs Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
James Russell Smith
BOWLING GREEN – James Russell Smith, 95, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Magnolia Village.
He was the son of the late Clarence Smith and Mary Moore Smith, and the husband of the late Anna Louise Martin Smith.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
James Staten
GLASGOW – James Staten, 60, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home.
Born in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Cecil Staten and Lucille Huffman Staten, of Glasgow, who survives. James was a retired employee of Bowling Green Bank and Trust Company and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille Staten, of Glasgow; one son, James Staten Jr., of Bowling Green; two daughters, Nakeshia Staten, of Bowling Green, and Quiana Johnson, of Glasgow; five brothers, Wayne Staten, of Glasgow, Ervin (Mona) Staten, of Bowling Green, Stevie Staten, of Glasgow, Rondall Staten, of Glasgow, and Tommy Burris, of Glasgow; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Tyler Family Cemetery in Metcalfe County. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
