GLASGOW — Irma Beatrice Hess

GLASGOW — Irma Beatrice Hess, 87, formerly of Greencastle, Ind., died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Barren County Health Care Center in Glasgow.

 She is survived locally by her daughter, Barbara Ross and her husband James.

 Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle, Ind., with burial in Forrest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle, Ind. Visitation will be from 9 to 1 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.  

Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

John Vernon Kinslow

GLASGOW — John Vernon Kinslow, 80, of Glasgow, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Rosewood Health Care in Bowling Green.  

He was born in Barren County, the son of the late John Moten Kinslow and May Atnip Kinslow. Vernon was a farmer and an avid fox hunter and raised Trigg foxhounds. He also won many awards with his mules and Belgian mares he raised. He was a member and a deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Holman Kinslow; a son: Johnny Kinslow and wife Janet of Glasgow; a sister: Juanita White Thomas and husband Ernest of Glasgow; two god-grandchildren: Meagan and William Garrison; and several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Harrison Connor; and a brother, Malcolm Kinslow.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery at Etoile. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Douglas R. Lyons

TOMPKINSVILLE — Douglas R. Lyons, 79, of Tompkinsville, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at his home.

He was the son of the late Tip Lyons and Lorene Gammon Lyons and husband of the late Flora Hazel Gaines Lyons.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Strode Funeral Home, in Tompkinsville, with burial in Old Mount Hermon Cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the funeral home.



Thelma Pedigo Sartin

HORSE CAVE — Thelma Pedigo Sartin, 92, of Horse Cave, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Hart County Health Care Center.  

A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ellen Mansfield Pedigo.  She was a retired employee of Sharp Bedding, a member of Brotherhood Freewill Baptist Church, and had served as president of the Resident’s Council at Hart County Health Care.

Survivors include a niece, Pam Anson (John) of Prospect; five grandchildren: Velvet Scott (Roger), Wesley Pedigo (Sandy), and David Pedigo (Debbie), all of Cave City, Donnie Pedigo (Jan) of Kino, and Joe Pedigo of West Virginia; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Joe Pedigo; one son, James Pedigo; two brothers, Robert Pedigo and Earl “Doc” Pedigo; four sisters, Irene Staples, Anna Barnett, Wilma Thompson and Nell Oakes.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kenneth Earl Walters

BONNIEVILLE — Kenneth Earl Walters, 75, of Bonnieville, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was the son of the late Earl and Alma Reynolds Walters.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary Ann Walters.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Bonnieville Union Church with burial in Memory Park Cemetery at Bonnieville. Visitation will be Friday, July 9, from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, July 11, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville. The body will lie in state Sunday from 11 a.m. until time for services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or to Bonnieville Union Church.



Gertie Gillenwater Jones Watkins

FOUNTAIN RUN — Gertie Gillenwater Jones Watkins, 102, of Fountain Run, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Glenview Health Care Facility in Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Ben and Fannie Huskinson Gillenwater.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Fountain Run Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

SUMMER SHADE — Jesse Ray Basil, 25, of Summer Shade, died Saturday, July 5, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, with burial in Big Meadow Cemetery.



HODGENVILLE — Judelle Pemberton Bunnell, 86, of Hodgenville, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.  



EDMONTON — Lola Mae Wilson, 89, of Edmonton, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with cremation to follow. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Sunday.
