Bert L. Brownfield

GLASGOW — Bert L. Brownfield, 87, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at his residence. The “L” stood for Lincoln after Abe.

Born in Gamaliel, he was the son of the late Sam and Pearl Jenkins Brownfield. Mr. Brownfield moved to Illinois as a young man searching for work. Mr. Brownfield was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He loved the outdoors and was a jack of all trades and master of most. He loved lively conversation and a story with lots of jokes.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Davidson Brownfield; two daughters: Arlene Duff and Peggy Dean, both of Molene, Ill.; two sons: Steve Brownfield of Florida, and Dennis Brownfield of Iowa; brother-in-law: Paul Sivil of Moline, Ill.; several step children, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty McNall Brownfield; one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Gamaliel Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the funeral home.

Jonathan Brent Poore

GLASGOW — Jonathan Brent Poore, 33, died Monday Jan. 11, 2010, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville after an extended illness.

He was born in Glasgow, the son of Billy and Vicki Reagan Poore of Glasgow, who survive. Jonathan was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Glasgow.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son: Matthew Poore of Bowling Green; two brothers: Jason (Bonita) Poore of Glasgow, and Chris (Stacy) Poore of Lucas; four nephews: Travis, Michael, Tyler and Dylan Poore; grandparents: Billy and Dana Reagan of Glasgow; and his great -grandmother: Velma Reagan of Glasgow.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin “Benji” Poore; grandparents, Alma McCandless and Leon and Maple Poore; great-grandparents, Bill Reagan, Lawrence and Pearl Wilson Gilley, Roy and Ada Poore, and James and Nannie Goode.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Danny Ray Sherfey

GLASGOW — Danny Ray Sherfey, 55, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Herman Ray Sherfey and Dorothy Lee Smith Sherfey, of Glasgow, who survives. Mr. Sherfey was a self-employed auto technician at Glasgow Automotive Repair and Speed Shop which he and his wife owned and operated. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his mother, survivors include wife, Pam Gail White; one daughter: Annette Mickley (Heath) of Rochelle, Ill.; three grandchildren: Briana, Brittany and Alyssa Mickley; one sister: Ruby Hayes (John) of Tompkinsville; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Wallace Dee and Letha Frazier White of Cave City; two nieces and several cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the funeral home.

Violet Wood

GLASGOW — Violet Wood, 86, died Monday night, Jan. 11, 2010, at her son’s home in Burkesville.

Her arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

GLASGOW — Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Ganter, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Barren County Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



GLASGOW — David Ralston Jordan, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Tuesday) from 4 until 8 p.m. Alternate expressions of sympathy are suggested to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children, or Kosair Children’s Hospital, 231 E. Chestnut St., Louisville, KY 40202.



UPTON — Audrey Mae Peebles, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at her son’s home in Upton. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville, with burial in the Dorsey Chapel Cemetery. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



PARK CITY — Harry Lynn “Joe” Perkins, 95, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Barren County Health Care Center, Glasgow. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel, and Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Park City. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Park City Baptist Church, P.O. Box 57, Park City, KY 42160; or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
