GLASGOW — Tressie Manion Cornwell

SCOTTSVILLE – Tressie Manion Cornwell, 70, of Scottsville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

She was born July 19, 1942, in Allen County, Ky., to the late Brince Rudolph Manion and Lavenious Stinson Manion. She was a retired photographer and co-owner of Greenwood/Glasgow and Scottsville Urgent Clinics. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church and the wife of Camilus H. Cornwell. They were united in marriage May 17, 1958, in Ring Gold, Ga.

She is survived by her husband, Camilus H. Cornwell; one son, Mark Hall Cornwell; one daughter and son-in-law, Robbie Jill and Ricky Davis; one brother, Dr. Kenny Joe Manion; one sister, Genell Lyle, and one grandchild, Seth Robert Davis, all of Scottsville.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville, with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Thursday at Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville.

Memorials are suggested to Berean Baptist Church.



Edna Edith DeVore

EDMONTON – Edna Edith DeVore, 94, of Edmonton, died Tuesday Dec. 4, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.  

She was the daughter of the late Crit and Myrtie Beasley.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne (Wendell) Mosby, of Edmonton; two grandchildren, Marnita (Kenny) McIntyre, of Summer Shade, and Ricky (Kim) Mosby, of Edmonton; four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Adam Hornek and Haley and Ethan Perkins; one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Thompson.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey DeVore; one son, Jerry Perkins; one brother, James Beasley; and one sister, Helen Francis.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.



Charles ‘Roy’ Winford Ellis

CAVE CITY – Charles “Roy” Winford Ellis, 92, of Cave City, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville.

He was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He was an Air Force World War II veteran. He was the son of the late Robert Ellis and the late Matilda Bridges Ellis and husband to the late Lela Pemberton Ellis.

He is survived by one daughter, Jean Mills (Author), of Hodgenville; two grandchildren, Erica Lyn McGee and Carol Ann Faulkner; two step-grandchildren, Rondale Mills, Marla House and several great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, with Reverend Bradley Lewis and Reverend Dr. B.T. Bishop officiating. Interment will be at Horse Cave Cemetery, Horse Cave.

 

Roger B. Proffitt

CAVE CITY – Roger B. Proffitt, 90, of Cave City, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Horse Cave.  

He was born in Cave City, to the late Herchel Houston and Martha Elizabeth Gerald Proffitt. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a farmer, former mayor and postmaster of Cave City and former owner of the Wigwam Motel and an elder of the Cave City Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Proffitt, of Cave City; one daughter, Judith Ann Jackson (Michael) of Philadelphia, Pa.; three sons, Roger Maurice Proffitt (Ann) of Newport News, Va., Virgil Lee Proffitt (Helen) of Lexington, and James O. Proffitt (Dianna) of Cave City; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Jackson, James Lee Proffitt, Jason Proffitt, Megan Jackson, Jennifer Alford (Karson), Amanda Guerra (Cesar), Tori Dowell (Kent), Kati Proffitt, Ami Proffitt and Lucas Roger Proffitt; and three great-grandchildren, Laura Alford, Ella Alford and Carter Dowell.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Cave City Church of Christ with burial to follow at Cave City Cemetery, with military honors by Barren County DAV.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Potter Children’s Home, Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104.

 

Hattie Frances Williams

MUNFORDVILLE – Hattie Frances Williams, 74, of Munfordville, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Rollo Howard and the late Mae Ford Howard.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Williams.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodsonville Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be at Woodsonville Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday with Reverend Rodney Richardson and Reverend K.T. Ford officiating. Interment will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens, Munfordville.

BEE SPRING – Dona Marie Vincent, 86, of Bee Spring, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at her residence in Bee Spring.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel. Funeral service will be at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Jock Cemetery, Bee Spring. Brooks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
