GLASGOW — Norman Arthur Cross

FOUNTAIN RUN – Norman Arthur Cross, 67, of Fountain Run, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Monroe Health and Rehab Center, in Tompkinsville.

Norman was born in Monroe County, on Aug. 24, 1945, a son of the late Sinda (Johnson) and Jim Cross.

On Feb. 9, 1980, at Celina, Tenn., he married Dixie Ann (Sewell) Cross, who survives him.

Graveside services will be at Fountain Run Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, with Jeremy Yokley officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Run Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Yokley Trible Funeral Home.



Ray Edwin Johnson

BOWLING GREEN – Ray Edwin Johnson, 76, of Bowling Green, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Albert and Pauline Johnson, and husband of Sarah Jenkins Johnson, who survives.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at White Stone Quarry Baptist Church. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green is in charge of the arrangements.



Leon Page

FRANKLIN – Mr. Leon Page, 90, of Franklin, entered into rest Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at 10:50 a.m. at the Medical Center at Franklin, Ky.

A native of Glasgow, he was the son of the late Leo Page and the late Ora McFarland Page. He was the husband of the late Ruby Mai Page.

He is survived by his wife, Lassie C. Gregory Page; a stepson, Bradford D. Gregory (Nancy), of Franklin; two step-grandchildren, John L. Gregory (Stephanie) and Bradford D. Gregory II (Leigh Anne); six step-great-grandchildren, Colton, Mason, Riley, Gunner, Paige and Piper Gregory.

Mr. Page was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the reflections choir.

Mr. Page graduated from Glasgow High School in 1940, attended Western Kentucky University 1940-1941 and graduated from Bowling Green Business University in 1943, served in the United States Navy from September 1943 to March 1946, worked as an accountant for a store fixture manufacturing company in 1946 to 1947,  moved to Franklin in 1947 and opened the Sweet Shoppe, which he owned and operated from 1947 to 1952, worked for the Kentucky Department of Revenue in Frankfort from 1952 to 1958 and then in 1958 returned to Franklin, and helped organize Franklin Bank & Trust Company. He served as Vice President/Cashier at Franklin Bank & Trust Company from 1958 to 1965 and served as President of Franklin Bank from 1965 to 1987,  served as Chairman of the Board of Franklin Bank & Trust Company from 1965 through 2010. Continued to serve on the Board of Directors until his death. In 1958 – assisted in organizing Franklin Bank & Trust Company, 1962 – assisted in organizing Caveland Girl Scout Council which consisted of 14 south central Kentucky counties, including Simpson, 1964 – President of Chamber of Commerce, 1966 – Treasurer of Quarterback Club, 1967 – served as Treasurer of the Franklin-Simpson Hospital Building Commission during the construction of the hospital, 1969 – served for seven years as a member of the Simpson Selective Service Board 90, 1969 – served as President of Group IV of the Kentucky Bankers Association, which consisted of 12 south central Kentucky counties, 1972 – served on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Bankers Association for six years, serving as its Chairman in 1974, 1973 – served as a member of the Franklin Industrial Development Association since 1973 and presently served as Secretary/Treasurer, 1974 – served as President of Franklin Rotary Club. Active member in Rotary Club and participated in community events for 55 years. 1974 – assisted Western Kentucky University by serving with an advisory group for the development of a two-year associate degree in banking. 1975 – served as President of the Kentucky Bankers Association through 1976, 1976 – served as advisor to Governor Julian Carroll’s Economic Development Commission, 1976 – served on the advisory council of the Kentucky School of Banking held at the University of Kentucky.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at 1 p. m. at Franklin First Baptist Church. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, with military honors by the Simpson County Honor Guard.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p. m. and 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. Thursday at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home, in Franklin, and 9 a.m. until funeral service time Thursday at Franklin First Baptist Church.

EDMONTON — Hildred Gibson, 82, of Edmonton, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Metcalfe County Health Care in Edmonton. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



NEW ORLEANS, La. – Vernon D. Pippin, formerly of Hiseville, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012. Visitation will be at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home on Wednesday starting at 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Hiseville Cemetery.



GLASGOW – Rosemary Coe Colter Pirtle, 80, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until time for the service.



GLASGOW – Brenda Joyce Stockton, 58, of Glasgow, died Monday, Dec.10, 2012, in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
