Your view: There are steps to forgiveness for our sins

Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW — Dear Editor,

You feature a message from various churches in your Friday edition. I beg you to print my article!

I wish to disagree with Billy Graham’s article on July 19, 2010, titled “Christ accepts us as we are.”

I. The words Jesus Christ come from two pagan gods, the Druid god Hesus, Greek Zeus, the Eastern god Krishna or Greek Cristo, which the Emperor and Pope Constantine chose to unite the people in one religion. The people were forced to abandon their worship of other gods. The letter J was added to the English language about the time that King James had the Bible translated.

The Messiah’s Hebrew name is Yahshua and names should never be translated. Yet all the pagan nations had different names for the same god that they worshiped.

II. There are steps to receive forgiveness of our past sins! Why? See Isaiah 59:2, “Your iniquities (sins) have separated you from the Creator, Yahweh and He has hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear!” John 8:34; Romans 6:23; I John 3:4, 3:8.

1. We must read or hear the message from the Holy Scriptures. Romans 10:14, 10:17; Hebrews 3:7.

2. We must believe those scriptures that prophesied of the coming Messiah. Luke 24:25-27, 24:44 and 46; Romans 10:9, 10:14. All scripture was given by inspiration from Yahweh, the Creator. II Timothy 3:16.

3. We need to repent (be truly sorry that we sinned ignorantly). Matthew 3:2; Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30, II Corinthians 7:10.

4. We must confess our sins. Numbers 5:7; Proverbs 28:13, and confess our belief in the death and resurrection of the Messiah. Matthew 3:6; Acts 19:18; Romans 10:9.

5. We must be converted (turn to obeying all the Laws). The 10 Commandments are a summary of those laws. They teach how you are to reverence Yahweh and how you are to treat all people. Romans 7:12; I Timothy 1:9; II Corinthians 9:13.

6. The next step is baptism (immersion or buried in a grave of water). Matthew 3:11; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; I Peter 3:21. When you are buried with the Messiah, you are to walk a new life (of obedience).

Our Reward: Revelation 22:14, “Blessed are those who keep His laws.”
