MUNFORDVILLE — An Oklahoma man died in a tractor-trailer wreck Wednesday on Interstate 65 in Hart County.
Randall Mitchell, 48, of Drumright, Okla., was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by Hart County coroner Jeff Roten.
The wreck occurred around 7 p.m. when two tractor-trailers approached road construction at the Green River Bridge.
Russell Noble, 56, of Paris, Tenn., was traveling northbound in the right lane of I-65 In a 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer and was slowing down due to roadway construction at the bridge. Mitchell, who was driving a 2007 Freightliner, was also traveling northbound in the right lane of I-65 approaching the back of Noble’s trailer, said Trooper Charles Swiney, public information officer with the Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green.
As Mitchell continued traveling toward Noble’s tractor-trailer, Mitchell did not realize that Noble was slowing down, he said.
Mitchell was killed upon impact, Swiney said.
