IN MINUTES: Tompkinsville City Commission

TOMPKINSVILLE — DATE: June 30, 2010

ACTION: Commissioners took the following action: Approved the May minutes as presented; rejected a bid from Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC for patching and resurfacing of city streets; approved on second reading the 2010-11 budget which totals to $4,754,920 and reflects the following: General Fund, $1,394,000; Police Fund, $621,000; Fire Fund, $29,120; Park Fund, $23,000; Road Aid, $155,000; Gas Fund, $1,200,750; Water Fund, $944,050; and Sewer Fund, $388,000; agreed to transfer $25,752.01 from the 1 percent payroll tax fund to pay old bills and the post approval of $20,000 for the Scottsdale and KEMI new insurance policy down payment for a total transfer approval of $45,752.01; and agreed to sell surplus property.

REPORTS: Commissioners heard the following reports: Recycling, bookkeeping and finance.

ITEMS TABLED: Commissioners tabled action on the rental of the house at the city park.

DISCUSSION: Commissioners discussed purchasing a dump truck for use at the sewer plant. No action was taken. They also discussed installing a street light on West Fifth Street where a pole already exists. A police officer was sent out Wednesday night to see how dark it is in the area and will report back to the commission. Commissioners discussed repairs to the tennis courts, vollebyall court and basketball goal at the city park.

RECOGNIZING ANYONE TO COME BEFORE THE COMMISSION: City employee Fred Parr, who is currently on workers comp, came before commissioners and presented them with a doctor’s statement stating he was released to go back to work as of June 30 with restrictions. After discussion, commissioners noted that they needed to check with maintenance supervisor Harold Frazier to see if the city had any work that would meet the requirements so Parr would not reinjure himself.
