GLASGOW — MEETING: Glasgow Independent Schools Board

ACTIONS: Board members approved the following: minutes of the Oct. 19 regular meeting and Oct. 24, 26 and 29 special called meetings; payment of claims; personnel actions; fundraisers and trips; statement of work for the renewal of TeacherInsight services through Gallup Inc. Dec. 6, 2009, to Dec. 5, 2010; request to bid food supply items for period of Jan. 1, 2010, to June 30, 2010; transfer of funds in the amount of $2,753,789 from the General Fund ending balance as of June 30, 2009, to a “Restricted for Future Construction” Fund; acceptance of a Partnership for Student Success Grant in the amount of $25,000 for Success Academy; submission of an application for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Enhancing Education through Technology Grant; declare miscellaneous items as surplus property; and advertising for construction management services for GHS.

REPORTS: Glenda Reid, HES 21st Century Learning Center site coordinator, gave an update on the Kids Club after school program. GHS Alumni Association Director Terri Wells presented information on programs and activities. Food Service Director Ann Howell gave a report on district nutrition and physical activity. Superintendent Kathy E. Goff presented a district demographics profile for the period of 1999 through 2009.

RECOGNITIONS: Chairman Jerry L. Ream recognized Ashton Gosnell and Janee Stockton for a GMS football journalism article.

PRESENTATIONS: Student groups from each school gave learning demonstrations: Highland Elementary — famous Kentuckians; South Green Elementary — “The Jungle Book”; Glasgow Middle School — Virtual High School; and Glasgow High School — student artwork.
