GLASGOW — Meet the Scotties

Meet the Scotties for the spring sports teams will be March 15. Younger Scottie athletes and parents and fans of current Scottie athletes will have an opportunity to meet the teams beginning at 6:45 p.m. on the Glasgow High School football field.

Student-athletes are selling tickets to a shoulder plate supper that will be from 5 to 6:30 in the cafe prior to Meet the Scotties. Tickets for the supper are $5 and the cost will include sandwich, chips, drink and desert.

Spring sports include baseball, softball, tennis, track, lacrosse and archery.

All proceeds from the supper will go to the teams.

Meet the Trojans

The Barren County Athletic Booster club will host Meet the Trojans for spring sports on March 15 at 6 p.m. in the Barren County High School gym. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. attendants should bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to share.

Hot Rods release spring training schedule

The Bowling Green Hot Rods’ spring training games will begin on March 17 in Florida. The 15-game stint includes matchups against three different opponents - Delmarva Shoebirds (Baltimore Orioles), Beloit Snappers (Minnesota Twins) and Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox). The schedule is as follows:

Hot Rods vs. Shoebirds: March 17-18, 22-23, 26-27, March 31-April 1

Hot Rods vs. Beloit Snappers: March 19, 24, 29

Hot Rods vs. Greenville Drive: March 20, 25, 30, April 2

The team will also hold its Fan Fest on March 13 from noon to 5 p.m., where home game tickets for the 2010 season will first be made available.

Babe Ruth meeting planned

An organizational meeting for the 2010 Babe Ruth league will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. League officers and volunteers will be selected during the two-hour gathering.

The offices of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, insurance coordinator and equipment coordinator will be discussed, as well as other vacant positions such as team staffs, schedule coordinator, umpire coordinator and Web site coordinator.

The meeting will take place at Senior’s Corner near the back entrance to the Barren County High School gym.

Temple Hill/Eastern YSL accepting signups

The Temple Hill/Eastern Youth Sports League will be accepting baseball and softball signups through March 8, for youths ages five to 12.

  • Scotties top Trojans, earn No. 1 seed in tournament

    Hunter Bowles scored 23 points Saturday night to lead the Glasgow Scotties to a 66-54 victory over Barren County in boys' District 15 basketball action. The victory give the Scotties the No. 1 seed for the district tournament beginning Monday, Feb. 20, at Allen County Scottsville High School.

  • Scotties do their job, take down Caverna

    HORSE CAVE – It would have been very easy for the Glasgow Scotties to have had their minds on something else Friday night when they traveled to play at Caverna. After all, Glasgow is having a pretty good season and the Scotties are preparing for a big battle with District 15 rival Barren County on Saturday night. And the game has added importance as the winner gets the No. 1 seed in the district tournament.

  • Glasgow girls roll over Caverna

    HORSE CAVE – After fending off a furious Caverna rally in the final minutes of the second quarter Friday night, the Glasgow Lady Scotties bumped up the defense in the second half and held the Lady Colonels to only three points in the third period and cruised away with a 59-41 victory.

  • One last chance

    As Lora Garrett prepares the Glasgow High School swim team for this weekend’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association Region 1 Swimming and Diving Championships in Owensboro, she sees a lot of positives for her team. Meghan Taylor is swimming well in the freestyle and Grayson Reynolds is swimming well, as are a couple of the Lady Scottie relay teams.
