GLASGOW —
There is an old adage that speed kills. And when the Monroe County Falcons line up against the Glasgow High School Scotties Friday night in Tompkinsville, coach John Petett sure hopes that old adage isn’t true.
The Falcons, currently 3-1 on the season and ranked in the Class 3A state polls, will play host to the undefeated Glasgow Scotties, 4-0 on the year and also ranked among the best in Class 2A.
And one of the big positives for the Scotties this season has been their team speed.
“Glasgow is such a solid football team and they’re very well coached. Rick Wood is one of the best football coaches in the state,” said Petett. “They’re going to be disciplined and we have to be smart about what we’re doing against them.
“Glasgow throws the ball well, but they don’t throw it much. Offensively, we have to stop their speed. They have a lot more team speed than we have. And that forces us to try and contain them and keep them in front of us.”
