GLASGOW — Elation quickly gave way to disappointment Tuesday, when the Glasgow girls soccer team watched a hard-fought 1-1 tie with Bowling Green early in the second half turn into a 6-1 loss.
The Scotties kept the game close in the first half. The Purple led 1-0 at the end of the first 40 minutes, and head coach Meagan Powell said the team was ready to score - and score quick — in the second half.
“At halftime, they were ready to go. Everybody was really talking everyone up,” Powell said. “We said we're going to come out ready to score. And we did.”
Thanks to a “perfect” Micha Elmore assist, Katherine Rogers scored minutes into the half, inciting a loud flourish of screams from the Glasgow bench.
Bowling Green didn’t waste any time answering, though, and regained the lead about a minute after the Rogers goal.
“As soon as Bowling Green scored that second goal, it was almost like everyone felt the disappointment,” Powell said. “They finally felt how tired they were.”
The Purple parlayed their momentum into four additional goals, finishing the game with a 6-1 advantage.
Despite the loss, Powell said the team left the field determined.
“They left the field happy, because they knew they worked hard,” Powell said. “They said ‘(Bowling Green) better watch out if we play them in district’.”
The Scotties will next travel to Taylor County for a 4:30 p.m. Saturday game.

BCHS boys get 'big' win
The Barren County Trojans have kind of been walking through a fog lately. The Trojans are playing good basketball, but after losing their last two games by a combined total of three points, a spark seemed to be missing from the BCHS program. The Trojans have battled through every game this season, diving after loose balls, fighting for rebounds, playing all 32 minutes. Barren County has definitely competed.

Hart County is traditionally one of the better offensive teams in the state and opposing coaches know they have to try and keep the Lady Raiders’ offensive firepower under control, if they want to have any chance at winning.
