GHS boys top Barren

GLASGOW — Staff report

Glasgow boys golf edged the Barren County boys by four strokes Wednesday, winning 167-171 at Glasgow Country Club.

Glasgow’s Steely Harris led all golfers with a meet-low 39. Cameron Branham (41), Thomas Kingery (43) and Spencer Carter (44) rounded out scorers for Glasgow.

Clay Simmons led the way for Barren, shooting a six-over 42. T.A. Wells (43), Matt Turner (43), and Chase Nunn (48) finished in the top four for the Trojans.

Kole Wilkinson (45), Dylan Doty (47), Spenser Bradley (48) and Chase Landrum (49) also participated for Glasgow, while Nathan Layton (48), Alex Morgerson (48), Cameron Brown (54) and Mark Shipley (65) made up the rest of the squad for Barren.

The Trojans will next take part in the Warren East Invitational on Saturday. The Scottie boys will play in the BGIT Invitational on Saturday.

In the girls' match, Glasgow won by 21 strokes.

Glasgow's Kylie Foushee led all golfers with a low round of 36 through nine holes. Barren's Taylor Moore had the next lowest round with a 39, but it was the next three golfers for Glasgow that proved to be the difference in the match. Blair Dennison shot 40, Shannon Bishop shot 42 and Emily Alexander fired 45.

For Barren, Logan Steenbergen and Elliot Shipley each shot 48, while Hannah Simmons fired 49.

Also for Glasgow, Ashton Foushee shot 47, Taylor Phelps fired 49 and Katie Jones and Courtney Swindle each finished with 57.

For Barren, Lyn Dawsyn Steenbergen and Kylie Withrow each fired 54, while Amber Jewell shot 57 and Emmory Shipley finished with 60.
