GLASGOW —
Several local teams will be competing in regional cross country meets around the area this weekend. On Saturday, the Barren County High School boys and girls will be running at the Hardin County Fairgrounds near Glendale. Also, the Glasgow High School Scotties and Lady Scotties will compete in Owensboro at the Yellow Creek Park.
“The most obvious thing about the girls’ team is that everyone has come together to do their part for the team. They’ve given a 100 percent at the workouts and at the meets,” said Terry Reed, Barren County coach. “With the boys, we’re probably seventh in our region. The guys have worked very hard and I think Mason (Dunbar) has put himself in a position, if he runs a good race Saturday, to qualify for the state meet.”
“There are a lot of strong teams in our region. Green County, Hancock County and Owensboro Catholic will probably be the top three teams in the meet,” said Glasgow coach Mindy Sorrels. “A total of eight boys’ teams will be at the meet and I think that means our boys should be able to qualify for state.” Only three Lady Scotties will be competing on Saturday.
The Trojanettes will be running at 9 on Saturday morning in Glendale, while the Trojans will be running at 9:45 a.m. The Glasgow boys will start at 11:15 a.m., while the Lady Scotties will go at noon.
