GLASGOW —
As Rick Wood, the head football coach at Glasgow High School, spoke to his team after the Scotties’ stunning 42-33 victory over Bardstown Friday night in the second round of the Kentucky High School Class 2A Football Playoffs, the veteran coach smiled. He told his team, “I don’t know how good we are, but I do know we’re pretty stubborn.”
Wood’s description of his team was pretty appropriate on that night as the Scotties, after spotting the talented Tigers 20 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, outscored Bardstown 42-13 the rest of the way to cruise to victory.
“We tell our kids to play like there is no scoreboard and they must have listened to me tonight,” said Wood. “We tell them to play for 48 minutes and then we will tally it up at the end. These kids didn’t quit, they believed in themselves and it was a great victory.”
