Monroe County not overlooking South Warren

GLASGOW — Monroe County High School coach John Petett has been around the game of football for a long time. And because of that experience, Petett understands the flow of a football season and how a team develops over a year, improving, usually, on both sides of the ball.

The Falcons rolled over the South Warren Spartans 41-0 during the regular season and now the two teams are scheduled to meet Friday night in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 3A Regional Championship in Tompkinsville. Petett is quick to remind all Falcons’ fans what’s in the past is in the past.

“We won the game during the regular season, but we had a lot of breaks go our way,” Petett relayed. “We had an interception for a touchdown, on three of our touchdowns we were able to break numerous tackles to score, we caught a touchdown pass in triple coverage to score and we caught a seam route over the middle in triple coverage to score. And if you take those touchdowns away, you’re looking at a 7-0 or 14-0 ballgame. We were very fortunate to get the points we got in that game.”

Kickoff is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
