GLASGOW —
Before Friday night’s varsity basketball game, a prayer was offered by sophomore Patrick Adkins for a former Glasgow High School student.
Adkins requested and was given permission to say a prayer for John Thomas Rogers, a 2012 GHS graduate who was injured by a fire last week. Ann Hodges explained to the crowd on hand to see the Scotties play the Russell County Lakers that Rogers was in the intensive care unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and that Adkins felt it necessary to say a prayer.
Afterward, the Glasgow pep band played the national anthem and the game tipped off.
The basketball contest ended in favor of the visiting Lakers, 64-52, and Glasgow head coach John Tinsley said he knew the game would be a measurement of where his team must improve.
“I’m not real disappointed. I knew this game would check where we are,” he said.
