GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Lady Scotties performed well recently against some very good teams in the West Kentucky Shootout at Christian County High School in Hopkinsville. They picked up an impressive 34-22 victory over West Creek High School out of Clarksville, Tenn. , and tied with Caldwell County, 38-38, after one overtime period.
“It was a good day for us. We were playing without Kelsey Greer and I thought our team responded well,” said Glasgow coach Justin Stinson. “The win over West Creek was especially impressive because they were extremely athletic, they had great size and was one of the best teams we’ll see all summer.
“Ashley Smith and Elli Bartley handled the point guard duties and both played really well. They took good care of the ball and did a nice job of initiating our offense. It is good for us to play without some players at times during the summer. It forces other players to step up and that is what we saw today.”
Stinson also said Glasgow’s inside players, Shalika Smith and Breanna Glover, played very well.
“Shalika Smith and Breanna Glover were dominate on both ends of the floor today,” Stinson said. “They were attacking and running the floor and were consistently aggressive offensively, which is what we need from them. Both players had outstanding games.”
The Lady Scotties will be back in action Tuesday, June 12, at Campbellsville High School. The Lady Scotties will take on North Hardin and Wayne County high schools.
