GLASGOW —
Records don’t always tell the story about a basketball team. And Cornelius Faulkner, the head girls’ basketball coach at Caverna High School, keeps that in mind each year as he works to make the annual Caverna Lady Colonels Christmas Classic one of the premiere holiday tournaments in southcentral Kentucky.
And this year’s tournament, which begins Thursday, Dec. 20, could be the best example of that philosophy. Despite the records, Faulkner believes the 2012 field may be one of the best ever.
“We send out invitations to a lot of teams, but we try to get the best teams possible each and every year,” said Faulkner. “We usually get a lot of smaller schools like us, but we try to make the tournament as competitive as we can.”
The tournament runs Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 20-22, at Caverna High School in Horse Cave.
