HORSE CAVE —
The Metcalfe County Hornets and the Caverna Colonels battled each other and freezing cold temperatures Thursday afternoon in local baseball action. The Hornets jumped on top early and never looked back as they rolled to a 12-2 victory. Caverna’s Trevor Stephens, above, slides in safely at home under the tag of Metcalfe County’s Tyler McMurtrey. McMurtrey, left, however, had a stellar day on the mound, holding the Colonel batters at bay for most of the game. Caverna’s Anthony Phillips, bottom, left, heads for third base on a ground ball. He would later score the Colonels’ first run.
