GLASGOW —
The Barren County High School Trojans and Trojanettes finished third in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Regional Bowling Championship on Saturday in Paducah.
The Caverna High School boys were eliminated in the first round of match play, while the Caverna Lady Colonels reached the quarterfinals.
“I was heartbroken for the kids,” said Barren County coach Ron Norris. “Going into the tournament on Saturday, I really thought these kids would win it.”
The Barren County Trojans qualified third heading into match play. They earned a bye in the first round and then knocked off Paducah Tilghman in the quarterfinals. BCHS was eliminated in the semifinals by Graves County. The Caverna boys opened match play with Warren Central, dropping a 3-0 decision.
The Trojanettes also qualified third heading into the match play competition. The BCHS girls beat Bowling Green in the quarterfinals before losing to Warren East in the semifinals. The Caverna girls reached the quarterfinals of the tournament. They beat Warren Central in their first match before losing to Graves County.
