GLASGOW —
It has been a long time coming, but Joe Taylor Mercer has been hired as the new boys’ soccer coach at Glasgow High School. Mercer, who served as an assistant coach for the Scotties the past two seasons, takes over for Shaun Goulbourne.
“As soon as I graduated from Glasgow High School, I knew the two things I wanted to do in life were to teach and to coach,” said Mercer. “I played soccer, basketball and baseball in high school and I didn’t really know which one I wanted to coach. When I went to college, I became a bigger fan of soccer than the other sports and fell in love with the game. When I moved back to Glasgow, I talked to Shaun about coaching with him.”
Mercer’s senior season with the Scotties was 2003.
