GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Scotties opened up the 2012 boys’ soccer season on a high note Tuesday afternoon as the Scotties knocked off visiting Taylor County, 2-0.
“The boys did well at keeping possession of the ball,” said Glasgow head coach Shaun Golbourne.
“They played very well as a team and that’s something we weren’t able to do consistently last season.”
Josh Garmon picked up the first goal for the Scotties to help Glasgow take the early lead and Andrew Thomerson closed out the scoring with a late goal.
Even though it was the first match of the season, Golbourne said his players didn’t seem to be nervous.
“They boys looked very comfortable and confident over the ball,” Golbourne said. “And that goes beyond the first 11. Everyone that came into the match contributed for us.”
Golbourne said he was proud of his team’s defensive effort.
“To be completely honest, the central midfielders did a terrific job today, controling the flow of the game,” said Golbourne. “Their effort made it a little bit easier on the defense.”
Glasgow will host Ohio County on Saturday at 7 p.m.
