GLASGOW —
The Glasgow High School Scotties will visit Barren County on Friday night for the first of two annual rivalry games with their crosstown nemesis. The games, no matter where they’re played, draw one of the largest crowds of the season and gives the winner bragging rights for at least one year.
But for coach John Tinsley and the Scotties, Friday’s game with the Trojans is just their ninth game of the season and their second District 15 game of the year. For Glasgow, it’s business as usual.
“The rivalry doesn’t affect how we prepare for this game. It is just another district game for us,” said Tinsley. “In this situation, Barren County probably knows what we’re going to do and we probably know what they’re going to do. It is the same thing with (fellow district opponents) Allen County and Monroe County. You have to try and prepare yourself for the things each team does. And really, it comes down to the fact you have to make plays, you have to get stops, you have to get rebounds, and it is just basketball.
“For us, it is district game number two. When the buzzer sounds, then we will get ready for district game number three. At the end of the day, you want to be as good as you can be in March. That’s the bottom line.”
Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
