GLASGOW —
Tayler McMurtrey was red hot Thursday night when she scored 25 points to lead the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets to a 59-40 victory over Butler County in the first round of the South Warren Holiday Tournament in Bowling Green.
“We played our best first half of the year,” said Metcalfe County coach Pete DiStefano. “We moved the ball well on offense and Tayler was on fire.”
The Lady Hornets jumped out on top early and never looked back as they led 21-10 at the end of the first period and 34-19 at the intermission. The rout continued in the second half as Metcalfe County led 43-27 as the fourth quarter began.
Behind McMurtrey’s big effort, Jordan Samuels scored 12 points and MacKenzie Coleman scored 11. Riley Eskridge chipped in with seven points, while Miranda Shaw and Allison Caffee scored two points each.
