GLASGOW —
Barren County High School is heading into Saturday’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association Regional Bowling Championship as underdogs. And coach Ron Norris, who started the BCHS program in August, is just fine with that role.
“I feel really confident going into the regional tournament. Over the last half of the season, the boys and girls have really progressed in their abilities, and they’ve done very well against some of the same teams we will see this weekend,” said Norris. “That makes me feel very positive.”
The regional tournament is Saturday at Cardinal Lanes in Paducah. The one-day event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
“The other teams will be looking at us as a first-year program,” Norris said. “But we’ve already made our showing, planted our feet on the ground this year, and now we’re going to push forward and see what we can do at the region. And I am very optimistic that we’re going to do really well.”
Norris said the top two teams from the girls’ and boys’ divisions Saturday will advance to the state tournament next month in Louisville. And the top two individuals in each division, not part of a qualifying team, will also move on to the state tournament.
