Summer camps upcoming

Swimming, outdoor adventure and two separate weeks located at Barren River State Park are some of the highlights of the upcoming summer-camp season at the Barren County Family YMCA.

Additionally, registration is being offered in a more camper-friendly way than previous years.

Registration is available on a weekly basis. Cost is $65 for YMCA members and $85 for a community participant. There is a discount for families who register additional children.

Specialty themes will ensure that campers have a diverse experience from week to week. Also, the YMCA is partnering with Barren River State Park to offer two weeks at the park. Activities during those weeks will be oriented to the wonderful facilities available at the park, such as the waterfront, an outdoor pool, nature hikes and fishing.

Breakfast and lunch will be served daily. Call the YMCA at 651-9622 for registration or additional information.

T-ball and kickball

T-Ball and kickball program registration is ongoing at the YMCA.

T-Ball is offered for youth ages 5 to 12. A new program, kickball, will be for younger children age 3 to 6.

Registration for both programs runs though May 1, with the season starting May 12.

Call the YMCA at 651-9622 for more information.

Golf preparation

Registration is continuing at the YMCA for a golf preparation class. There will be classes for both beginners and those who are already golfing.

The class includes two segments. Those who register are participating in group-fitness classes that will help with your golf game. The YMCA already offers an array of Pilates and Yoga classes, which are designed to increase flexibility and build core muscle strength.

In May, a local golf pro will offer once-a-week classes. Those will be split between beginners and those who have played golf before.
