GHS soccer alumni games are Saturday night

Glasgow High School wills host its soccer alumni games Saturday at the soccer complex.

The girls game is set a 6 p.m. start and the boys game will start at approximately 7:15 p.m.

All former GHS soccer players are invited to come to the event, even if you decline to play.



Tryouts for BC boys soccer are Saturday

Tryouts for the Barren County High School boys soccer team will be July 26 from 9-11 a.m. at the soccer complex.

Tryouts are open to boys in grades 7-12 in the Barren school system. Those in grades 7-8 will be trying out for the JV team only.

Any player wishing to try out must turn in a current physical in order to do so.



Practice for Barren boys cross country starts Monday

The Barren County High School boys cross country team will begin practice Monday at the high school. The practice will run from 6-7 p.m.

The boys cross country team is open to all boys enrolled in grades 5-12 in the Barren County school system. Those interested in running must have a current physical and parent permission form. These forms may be picked up in the high school office or found at www.khsaa.org/forms/ge04.pdf.

BCHS football alumni game set for Aug. 2

Barren County High School alumni are hosting the 4th annual alumni football bowl game on Aug. 2. Games start at 6:30 p.m. at the high school. Anyone wanting to play should be at the school at 5 p.m.

    As Lora Garrett prepares the Glasgow High School swim team for this weekend’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association Region 1 Swimming and Diving Championships in Owensboro, she sees a lot of positives for her team. Meghan Taylor is swimming well in the freestyle and Grayson Reynolds is swimming well, as are a couple of the Lady Scottie relay teams.

    The Caverna Lady Colonels lost a hard-fought battle Tuesday night to John Hardin High School out of Elizabethtown. Caverna lost, 58-50.

    A coach, in any sport, prays for the night when everything comes together for his or her team. In basketball, coaches want their teams to play good defense, rebound and shoot the ball well. When a team can do those three things, and do them well, they’re hard to beat.

  • Barren County boys lose, 84-81

    For 31 minutes and 24 seconds of Tuesday’s game against visiting Russell County, the Barren County Trojans were playing some pretty good basketball. Barren County was shooting well over 50 percent from the field, was playing good stingy defense on the Lakers and, with just 36 seconds remaining in the game, the Trojans were in striking distance, trailing 81-79.

  • Lady Scotties roll past Metcalfe girls

    The Glasgow Lady Scotties won handily on the basketball court Tuesday night with a 71-35 win over the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets. It was a big night for Glasgow, as it was only the second time in the school’s history that the girls’ basketball team won 20 games.
