Lady Scotties fall 2-1 at Taylor
The Glasgow girls soccer team lost its first match of the year on Friday.
The Lady Scotties fell 2-1 at Taylor County.
Glasgow (2-1) is back in action Monday with a home match against Pulaski County.
5K run/2 mile walk is Sept. 6
The Glasgow Public Defender’s office is sponsoring a Jail Break 5K Run/2 Mile Walk Saturday, Sept. 6, beginning at 8 a.m. The run will begin at the public defender’s office, 312 Samson St., Glasgow. Entry free is $12 for early registration or $15 day of the race. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race at 8 a.m.
All early registered entrants will receive a long sleeve T-shirt. Extra shirts will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Trophies will be given to overall winners, both male and female, in the 5K run. Trophies will also be given to the top three finishers in each age group in the 5K run and top five finishers in the 2-mile walk.
There will be age divisions for those 14 and younger, up to 60+ years of age.

Softball tourney next month
The Bowling Park Co-Ed Softball Tournament is coming up in September.
Men have to be 40 years of age or older and there must be two women 40 years of age or older on each team.
The entry fee is $100 for the bring-your-own-balls tournament.

Scrambles twice a week
The Barren River Lake State Park golf course is hosting 9 hole scrambles each Tuesday and Thursday through the end of September.
The cost to participate in each scramble is $15 per person. Participants may form their own teams.
Call the golf shop at 270-646-4653 or 1-800-295-1876 by 2 p.m. the day of the scramble to reserve your spot.

The Caverna Lady Colonels lost a hard-fought battle Tuesday night to John Hardin High School out of Elizabethtown. Caverna lost, 58-50.

While Glasgow and Metcalfe started off on equal footing Tuesday night, the Scotties ran away with the game in the second half, to end the night 97-49.

Barren County boys lose, 84-81
For 31 minutes and 24 seconds of Tuesday’s game against visiting Russell County, the Barren County Trojans were playing some pretty good basketball. Barren County was shooting well over 50 percent from the field, was playing good stingy defense on the Lakers and, with just 36 seconds remaining in the game, the Trojans were in striking distance, trailing 81-79.

Lady Scotties roll past Metcalfe girls
The Glasgow Lady Scotties won handily on the basketball court Tuesday night with a 71-35 win over the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets. It was a big night for Glasgow, as it was only the second time in the school’s history that the girls’ basketball team won 20 games.

Lindsey leads Caverna over Monticello
Dearrick Lindsey scored 23 points Monday night to lead the Caverna Colonels to a 55-46 victory on the road at Monticello.

Purples hold off Scotties in OT
Quentin Ellis, Glasgow High School’s talented senior point guard, scored 32 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field Saturday night against regional powerhouse Bowling Green, but it wasn’t enough as the Scotties dropped a 72-69 overtime decision on the road.
