SOUTH WALTON BEACH, Fla — Glasgow dropped a heartbreaker to South Walton, Fla., on Monday night.
After the Scotties erased a 6-4 deficit in the top of the seventh inning, South Walton scored on a two-out single to pick up a 7-6 win.
Trailing 6-4 in the seventh, Craig Mosier hit a two-out solo home run, his second round-tripper of the night, to make it a 6-5 game. Parker Cash and Tyler Howard each reached on two-out singles before Mikey Glass drove Cash in with a base hit to tie the score at 6-6.
South Walton scored the winning run in the bottom half of the inning to take the win.
Howard pitched a complete game to take the loss, giving up seven runs on six hits. He struck out three, walked five and hit a batter.
Mosier led Glasgow offensively, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four runs batted in. Glass, Cash, Howard and Tyler Emberton each added hits for the Scotties.
Glasgow scored in the top of the first inning when Tyler Lindsey, in as a courtesy runner for Howard, scored on a ball that South Walton misplayed for a 1-0 lead. South Walton came back in the bottom of the first to score three runs for a 3-1 advantage.
The Scotties (1-4) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Furlong was hit by pitch and Emberton singled. That brought up Mosier, who blasted a 3-run home run to put Glasgow up 4-3.
South Walton battled back to take a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. The home team had two singles and took advantage of two Glasgow errors.
The Scotties return to action on Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader, taking on Bozeman, Fla., at 3:30 p.m. and Freeport, Fla., at 6 p.m.
Barren/Adair postponed
Barren County’s game with Adair County, originally scheduled for Monday, was postponed. The Trojans will now host Adair Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Barren (3-2) also added a game to its schedule. In addition to a 5 p.m. home game against Metcalfe County on Thursday, the Trojans will also host Taylor County at noon on the same day.
Madisonville-North Hopkins 26, Monroe 6
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Monroe County suffered a 26-6 loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins in five innings on Monday.
Monroe won its opener in Florida, 8-7, over Lone Oak on Sunday.
The Falcons (2-4) continue their spring break trip with a noon contest against Trigg County on Wednesday.

RUSSELLVILLE - Metcalfe County split a pair of games on Saturday.
The Hornets (3-2) picked up an 11-3 win over Edmonson County and fell to Logan County, 5-1.
Metcalfe is back in action Thursday at Barren County.

Barren County boys lose, 84-81
For 31 minutes and 24 seconds of Tuesday’s game against visiting Russell County, the Barren County Trojans were playing some pretty good basketball. Barren County was shooting well over 50 percent from the field, was playing good stingy defense on the Lakers and, with just 36 seconds remaining in the game, the Trojans were in striking distance, trailing 81-79.

Lady Scotties roll past Metcalfe girls
The Glasgow Lady Scotties won handily on the basketball court Tuesday night with a 71-35 win over the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets. It was a big night for Glasgow, as it was only the second time in the school’s history that the girls’ basketball team won 20 games.

Dearrick Lindsey scored 23 points Monday night to lead the Caverna Colonels to a 55-46 victory on the road at Monticello.

Quentin Ellis, Glasgow High School’s talented senior point guard, scored 32 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field Saturday night against regional powerhouse Bowling Green, but it wasn’t enough as the Scotties dropped a 72-69 overtime decision on the road.

BCHS boys get 'big' win
The Barren County Trojans have kind of been walking through a fog lately. The Trojans are playing good basketball, but after losing their last two games by a combined total of three points, a spark seemed to be missing from the BCHS program. The Trojans have battled through every game this season, diving after loose balls, fighting for rebounds, playing all 32 minutes. Barren County has definitely competed.

Hart County is traditionally one of the better offensive teams in the state and opposing coaches know they have to try and keep the Lady Raiders’ offensive firepower under control, if they want to have any chance at winning.
