GLASGOW —
With five starters out of her lineup, Glasgow High School Girls Soccer Coach Kathy Jones was pretty excited to come away with a 0-0 tie Thursday afternoon at Southwestern.
“I was really proud of the girls and how they played,” said Jones. “With all the starters missing, I think we played pretty well.”
The Lady Scotties will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 25, when they host Logan County.
– The Barren County Middle School Trojans battled valiantly Thursday against the visiting Franklin-Simpson Wildcats.
The Trojans couldn’t generate much offense in either of the games and came out on the short end of the stick.
Barren County lost the seventh-grade game by a score of 36-6 and the eighth-grade game by a score of 28-6.
– The Glasgow Lady Scotties and the Barren County Trojanettes competed in a varsity golf match Thursday at the Glasgow Golf and Country Club.
The Lady Scotties got good performances out of their trio of big hitters – Emily Alexander, Taylor Phelps and Ashton Foushee – to come away with a 163-189 victory over the Trojanettes.
Alexander led Glasgow to the win with a solid round of 35. Phelps had a 38 and Foushee carded a 44.
Emmalee Lawrence shot a 46 and Katie Jones had a 48.
Barren County was led by the play of Amber Jewell and Kylie Withrow. Jewell and Withrow carded identical scores of 35.
Lyn-Dawsyn Steenbergen contributed a 47 for the Trojanettes and Emmory Shipley shot a 52 over nine holes.
Both teams will now prepare for the regional golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 24, at Dale Hollow State Park.
– The Barren County soccer seniors were recognized before the Trojans’ 1-0 victory over Glasgow Thursday night.
Those seniors were: James Witty, Sean Belding, Francisco Juarez, Daniel Lyons, River Neal, Justin O’Dell, Kevin Riley and Travis Poynter.
