GLASGOW —
According to Warren Cunningham, the Barren County Trojans had a bad workout Wednesday afternoon in preparation for Thursday’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association District 15 basketball finals. He said the players weren’t very crisp in their drills and things just didn’t feel right. Cunningham could have gotten angry with his players, yelled and screamed. But Cunningham didn’t do that.
“We didn’t have a very sharp workout yesterday in practice and I asked Dalton Bush and some of the guys that were around me what they thought. Bush turned to me and said, ‘We just want to play, coach,’ Cunningham relayed. “So we called off practice and went home early. I trust them on things like that because they’ve been there before and they’re experienced in big games.”
Bush’s advice to Cunningham was almost prophetic as the Trojans put four players in double figures to roll to a 75-52 victory over Allen County-Scottsville.
