GLASGOW — Hart beats Barren

Barren County volleyball dropped its fifth consecutive game Tuesday night, losing to Hart County 2-1.

The Lady Raiders took the first game 25-14 before the Trojanettes rallied for a 25-15 victory in the middle matchup. Hart repeated its opening game performance in the final stanza, though, winning 25-14.

The loss drops Barren to 5-15 on the year. The Trojanettes will look to rebound tomorrow when they travel to Caverna. Play is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Glasgow sweeps Allen

The Lady Scotties defeated Allen County-Scottsville 2-0 (25-13, 25-13) in a volleyball match at Allen Tuesday night.

The win improves Glasgow’s record to a Region-4-best 16-5. Tomorrow night, the Lady Scotties will attempt to hold on to that top record when they host Hart County at Highland Elementary for a 5:30 p.m. game.

Trojanettes edge Grayson

Barren County girls’ soccer grabbed its second win of the year Tuesday, edging Grayson County 5-4.

The team will close a season-starting six-game road trip tonight when it faces LaRue County. The Trojanettes will finally return home tomorrow when they welcome 1-5-1 Todd County Central.

Greenwood blanks Glasgow

Greenwood boys’ soccer shutout the Scotties Tuesday night, winning 10-0.

Since beginning the season 3-0, Glasgow has gone 0-2-1 in its last three matchups. The Scotties have netted two goals in that span.

Glasgow will look to return to early season form tomorrow when the team travels to Muhlenberg County.

Burchett named WKU women’s golf coach

Glasgow High School alum Ron Burchett was officially named Western Kentucky women’s head golf coach on Tuesday. Burchett served as part-time coach last season when former head Chuck Elson stepped down. He previously worked as an assistant coach for the past six years.
