SPORTS BRIEFS: Wade finishes tied for second


Glasgow native Whitney Wade had her second-best weekend on the Duramed Futures Tour.

She finished tied for second in the USI Championship in Concord, N.H., which ended Sunday.

Misun Cho shot a 10-under 206 to defeat Wade, Gerina Mendoza, Ashley Knoll and Paola Moreno by one stroke.

Wade earned $5,926 for her weekend’s worth of work, her second highest pay off since winning the Duramed Championship in Mason, Ohio, on June 19-21.

Wade shot three consecutive rounds of 69 in the USI.



Barren County LL football sets signups

Barren County Little League football will be have registration for players and cheerleaders on Aug. 3, 4 and 6 and Aug. 10, 11 and 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the football field on Donnelley Drive.

All Barren County and Glasgow children second through sixth grades are welcome. Fees for players will be $50 and $35 for each sibling.

Barren offers football camp

The Barren County Trojan Football camp will be July 30-31 for grades 3-8 at Trojan Field from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $25.

The clinic will be conducted by Barren County coaches and players and will include an emphasis on football fundamentals.

Registration forms and checks made payable to Barren County High School, can be brought to the first day of camp.
