GLASGOW —
Glasgow High School quarterback Ryan Hinkley fell into coach Rick Wood’s arms in the middle of the field Friday night after the Scotties dropped a heartbreaking 10-2 decision to visiting DeSales High School in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 2A Regional Championship. The talented quarterback was weeping uncontrollably.
Wood hugged Hinkley tight, trying to find the words to say. As the two embraced, Wood whispered in Hinkley’s ear, “Keep your head up. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Keep your head up.”
And the Scotties don’t have anything to be ashamed of. Glasgow gave DeSales everything it could ask for in a 48-minute battle. The Scotties close their season at 10-3.
