GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Lady Scotties easily defended their home court with a convincing 59-19 win Friday night against the Trojanettes of Barren County High School.
If anyone thought the Lady Scotties 30 point win, December in Barren County’s gym, was a fluke, the Glasgow girls showed them otherwise.
From the opening tip, it was obvious offensively, the big front line of Glasgow was going to be the difference. With Glasgow’s all-time leading scorer, Kelsey Greer, standing outside the 3 point line Barren County couldn’t pack the paint with enough bodies to slow either Breanna Glover or Shalika Smith from dominating the inside play. They scored 30 of Glasgow’s 59. When the Trojanettes did collapse on the interior players of Glasgow, Greer made them pay with 3 pointers. She was 3 of 5 outside the arc.
Glasgow was nearly unstoppable in the opening eleven and a half minutes with this strategy as they ran out to a 26 – 6 lead. Even though the Glasgow offense was clicking the Ladies Scotties were playing even better defense. Glasgow’s coach Justin Stinson remarked post game “We were really, really, good defensively. I thought Hydeia Depp and Ashley Smith did a great job pressuring the basketball. I thought we did an excellent job executing our defense.”
The Lady Scotties led after one quarter 15 – 2 and the halftime score was 31 – 8.
