BROWNSVILLE — Barren County volleyball was eliminated from the district tournament by Allen County-Scottsville Monday night, falling in two games 25-21, 25-21.
The Trojans beat Allen in their two previous games this season on Aug. 18 and Sept. 22.
The loss ends an 11-18 Trojan regular season and the high school volleyball careers of seniors Kelsey Trowbridge, Alissa Hampton, Hilary Rickard, Hannah Shaw and Shelby Houchens.
Barren’s last victory of the season came Sept. 26, when the team defeated Breckinridge County at the Elizabethtown Invitational.
Glasgow falls to Edmonson in District
Glasgow lost to Edmonson County in the opening game of the District 13 tournament in three games Monday.
The Scotties rallied after a game one loss to post a 25-16 win in the second frame.
Edmonson won the third game 25-17 to seal the match and eliminate Glasgow from district play.
The defeat ends Glasgow’s season with a 9-25 record under first year coach Kirsten Shive and the high school volleyball careers of seniors Whitney Williams, Shawn Smith and Courtney Taylor.
7th, 8th grade football teams playing in state tournament
Glasgow Middle School's seventh and eighth grade football teams will compete in the Kentucky Middle School Football Association's State Championship. The seventh grade team will play Oct. 19 at Meade County at 5:30.
The eighth grade team will host Meece (Somerset Ind.) Middle School Saturday at 3 p.m. at Glasgow High School’s Scottie Field.
