GLASGOW — Barren County’s girls finished 21st out of the 27 teams at the Class 3A state cross country meet on Saturday in Lexington.
Sacred Heart of Louisville captured the team title, led by first-place finisher Emma Brink.
Kaley Dunbar led Barren with a time of 21:09.19 and finished 62nd.
“Dunbar has been running for seven years and has made it all seven to state. She has also been all region all seven years. As a senior, we are going to miss her dearly,” Barren County girls coach Terry Reed said.
Laura Claywell is the team’s other senior and has been running for nine years.
“As a coach I appreciate their dedication to our team and their commitment to our program, the school and the community,” Reed said of all his runners.
In the Class 1A girls’ meet, two area runners qualified. Natalie Shields of Glasgow finished 74th and Cassidy Carter of Monroe County finished 59th.
