GLASGOW — Barren County Middle School’s inaugural wrestling season is now underway.
The team finished eighth out of 14 teams in its first tournament on Nov. 14. The Trojans were led by Braxton Smith, who placed second in the 140 pound weight class.
Dylan Haynes finished fourth in the 110-pound weight class, followed by Jonathan Greer (fifth in the 131 pound), Trevor Long (sixth in the 124 pound), Calvin Richardson (sixth in the 131 pound), Wyatt Price (sixth in the 150 pound), Ethan Rowe (sixth in the 185 pound), Chris Orns (seventh in the 96 pound), Dru Hodges (seventh in the 103 pound) and Jake Dillion (seventh in the 131 pound).
Barren came in ninth out of 13 teams at the LaRue County Invitational on Nov. 21. Richardson was champion of the 131 pound class in the tournament, finishing with a 3-0 record.
The Trojans will host a competition on Dec. 5 at the middle school at 10 a.m. They will follow that match with a Dec. 19 date at the Oldham County Super Duals.
Christmas Lights, Christmas Nights 5K
The Glasgow Christmas Lights, Christmas Nights 5K Run and Walk 5K will take place Dec. 5.
Participants can pre-register for the event for $20. Registration on the day of the race costs $25.
The race will start at the corner of West Washington and South Race Street on the Glasgow Public square, continue to Glasgow High School and finish where it began.
$200 cash prizes will be given to the top male and female racer. The top finishers will also be featured in the Christmas parade immediately following the event.
The top three finishers in each age category will receive medals.
All proceeds benefit the Glasgow/Barren County Community Relief Fund.

Metcalfe County High School seniors hosting 3-on-3 tournament
Metcalfe County High School seniors are hosting a 3-on-3 basketball fundraiser at the Bowling Park Gym in Edmonton on Jan. 9-10. There is a $40 entry fee for each men’s team. Deadline to register is Jan. 2.
Each team is guaranteed two games which will be played to 21 and must have a four point lead.
First, second and third place trophies will be presented and concessions will be available.
There will also be a three point shoot out. Cost is 10 balls for $5, high score wins, with 50 percent payback.
Proceeds go MCHS Class of 2010.
