GLASGOW — Winter Cornhole league
The Glasgow Recreation Department’s Winter Cornhole League signups end Monday. The cost for the league is $20 per team. Late night sign-ups will be Monday from 4 p.m. to5 :30 p.m. League play will begin Dec. 7. Each team needs to sign up two regular players and one alternate. There will be an “A” division and a “B” division to choose from. The winter league will end around the last of January.
Supper with Santa
On Dec. 5, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Recreation Department will be hosting a Supper with Santa. It will be held in the old Recreation Center on the Square. The supper will be prior to the Glasgow Christmas Parade. The menu will include chili, pimento cheese sandwiches, cake and a drink for $5. Santa will be available for children to talk to, and a child or pet can get their picture with Santa for $5. The proceeds from the event will go toward building a dog park for Glasgow.
Lady Hoopsters
Registration for the Lady Hoopster League begin Tuesday and run through Jan. 9. A child must be nine years old before Jan.5, 2010 and cannot turn 13 before March 31, 2010. Any child participating in middle School or JV basketball is not allowed to participate in the Lady Hoopster League. The cost for the league is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child from the same household. There will be late night sign-ups on Dec.14, Dec.16 and Dec.18 until 5:30 p.m. at the Recreation Department. There will also be a skills clinic in the Old Gym at Liberty Street on Jan. 10 at 9 a.m.
Cheerleading Clinic offered
A Cheerleading Clinic will be held on Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon for girls that are in kindergarten to sixth grade. The clinic will be held in the lower gym at Liberty Street. The clinic will be conducted by the Barren County High School Cheerleaders. The cost is $10 per child and this includes a goodie bag. Refreshments will also be available. Registrations will be taken on Dec. 12 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Open Christmas ‘Corn-a-Ment’
The Recreation Department will be hosting a Christmas Cornhole Double Elimination Tournament (Christmas Cornament) on Dec. 19 in the lower gym. The cost is $20 per team. Registrations will begin Nov. 30 and will run through Dec. 19. You may also register the day of the tournament (Dec. 19) from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Trophies will be given to first and second place.
Winter Freeze volleyball tournament scheduled
The Glasgow Recreation Department will be hold a volleyball tournament Dec. 7-11. The divisions will be Co-ed 6’s Open and Church Co-ed 6’s Open. The cost is $50 per team. The tournament will be double elimination with a draw for the seedings. Deadline to register is Friday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m.
