EDMONTON — The Glasgow Lady Scotties held Louisville Waggener to 10 points Wednesday night ... for the game.
Waggener scored six in the first quarter, four in the third and none anytime else.
“They weren’t as good as I thought they would be,” said Glasgow girls’ basketball head coach Chris Crain.
The end result of a solid defensive performance by the Lady Scotties and a poor ball-handling day by the Wildcats was a 65-10 win for Glasgow in its final game of the Edmonton State Bank Christmas Classic at Metcalfe County High. The Lady Scotties finished the round robin tournament 3-0 and improved their overall record for the season to 6-3.
“This is a great way to finish before Christmas break,” Crain said he told his players following the 55-point win. “Hopefully, it will carry over to when we play Warren Central next week and Barren County on Jan. 2.
“It was a great team effort overall.”
Kelsey Greer led Glasgow with 16 points and she added six steals, while Whitney Williams scored 11 points and Shelby Ray added 10.
The Lady Scotties jumped on the Wildcats early, outscoring them 20-6 in the first quarter. Glasgow’s offense slowed in the second period, but Waggener’s did start as GHS posted a 10-0 advantage and led 30-6 at halftime.
Glasgow posted a 25-4 run in the third quarter and led 55-10 after three.
