GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Middle School Scotties split a doubleheader football game Thursday with Moss Middle School. The games were played at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green.
The Glasgow Middle School Scotties won the seventh-grade game 28-0.
The Scotties scored early on an impressive drive capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by Kyle Nickson, followed by a two-point conversion by Nickson.
After holding Moss on downs to close the first quarter, Glasgow scored again on a quarterback keeper by Dalvin Smith and another two-point conversion by Nickson and the Scotties took a 16-0 lead into halftime.
Glasgow scored again on a 35-yard pass play from Smith to Nickson. The conversion failed and Scotties led 22-0. Griffin Murphy capped off Glasgow’s scoring with a 40-yard punt return.
That was followed by a two-point conversion from Savario Greer to make it 30-0.
The Scotties will be on the road again to face Grayson County Tuesday, Aug. 21.
The Glasgow Middle School eighth-graders lost to Moss, 34-16.
Moss struck first on a 15-yard rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion to stake an 8-0 lead, but Glasgow roared back on a 35-yard touchdown pass from QB Dessi Austin to RB Jasper Mundy. After a conversion by Mundy, the score was tied 8-8.
Moss came back again on the ground and scored on a 35-yard rushing touchdown. Moss scored later on a 25-yard run and a 50-yard touchdown pass. The final score came at the end of the third quarter on a 10-yard scamper.
But the Scotties weren’t through. On a quarterback sneak, Austin scored from a yard out and then threw a pass for the two-point conversion making the final score 34-16.
The eighth grade Scotties travel to Campbellsville Saturday to face Taylor County.
