GLASGOW —
John Petett and the Monroe County High School Falcons are diligently working through their preparation for Friday night’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 3A playoff game against Paducah Tilghman.
The Falcons have learned the names of key players, whether or not the Blue Tornado like to throw the ball, and even seemingly minute details like whether or not Paducah Tilghman likes to throw more often on third down, or run the ball.
The problem is for Monroe County, the coaching staff is having difficulty duplicating Paducah Tilghman’s speed. No one on the Falcons’ scout squad can run that fast.
“I have told the team that Paducah Tilghman has more athletes than we have and they’ve got more speed than we’ve got,” Petett said. “They’re just a heck of a ballclub. We played them last year, so we understand the talent level we’re up against, and we know this is going to be a major challenge for us. We’re going to just have to remain true to our gameplan and give them our best shot.”
Friday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m in Tompkinsville.
