GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Lady Scotties never faced much of a challenge this year in District 15 soccer action. Going into Wednesday’s championship match against Monroe County, Glasgow outscored district opponents 60-0.
But on Wednesday, instead of rolling over and giving up, Monroe County battled valiantly before the Lady Scotties put the match away with four goals in the second half to cruise to a 7-0 victory for the team’s first district title ever.
“The girls are thrilled, especially the seniors who have been going at this for four years. I am happy for them,” said Glasgow coach Kathy Jones. “It wasn’t our best game, but I am ready to move on to the next step.”
“We knew coming into the match it was going to be difficult,” said Monroe County coach Christy Biggerstaff. “Glasgow has a lot of speed and they’re good on goal from distance.”
