GLASGOW —
As the horn sounded to end Friday’s game between the Glasgow Scotties and the Green County Dragons, GHS coach Rick Wood exhaled. After jumping out to a 25-0 lead after the first three quarters, the Scotties had to hold off a furious Green County charge to claim a 25-16 victory.
“I thought the first half was a very good performance. I thought our offensive line played as well as we had envisioned they would all year,” said Wood. “We’re up 25-0 after three quarters, but that is Green County and they’re never going to quit. We told the guys at halftime, ‘if you think they’re going to give up, you’re crazy.’”
The victory improved the Scotties to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in district play. Glasgow will face Metcalfe County on Friday and a victory over the Hornets would give the Scotties another district title and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
