GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Middle School Scotties drew a familiar foe in Wayne County on Saturday in the first round of the middle school seventh-grade playoffs in Monticello. Unfortunately for the Scotties, Glasgow came up short, losing 20-14.
WCMS scored first on a long pass and then added the two-point conversion to lead, 8-0.
Glasgow came back to even the score on an 18-yard touchdown run by Kyle Nickson and a pass from Dalvin Smith to Griffin Murphy for the two-point conversion. Murphy intercepted a pass late in the first half to shut down a Wayne County drive and keep the score tied at 8-8 at the intermission.
Wayne County scored twice in the second half, but failed on both two-point conversions. Smith ran for Glasgow’s final points on a 5-yard touchdown run to bring the Scotties within six after the conversion failed.
The seventh graders ended the regular season 6-2 and close the playoff season with a record of 6-3.
