GLASGOW —
Tara Turner gave her volleyball players a spirited speech Wednesday night. Turner’s Monroe County Lady Falcons’ season had just ended with a 3-1 loss to Bowling Green in the semifinals of the Region 4 Volleyball Tournament.
She told her players they had nothing about which to be upset. They posted a 25-5-2 record, which included a Region 4 All “A” championship, and had shown heart in pushing the Lady Purples to four games.
“I’m so proud of my girls. We have a great record and we’ve had an exceptional year,” Turner said.
Monroe spotted Bowling Green two games before rallying to win the third.
In the fourth game in the best-of-five match, needing a win to push the match to a winner-take-all fifth game, the Lady Falcons and the Lady Purples played close throughout before BGHS won 25-23.
Bowling Green served and took an early 5-1 lead. Monroe stopped the run and closed to within a point at 5-4 before Bowling Green stretched its lead once again.
