GLASGOW — Barren County High School will name John Butler its new sofball coach in a Friday press conference, athletic director Bob Blair said on Wednesday.

Butler previously served as the Trojanettes' coach in 2004, leading them to a 10-11 record. The team fell in the District 15 championship, but went on to advance to the Region 4 final game before being eliminated by Allen County-Scottsville. That same year, Butler led the Barren County girls' basketball team to District and Region titles.

Butler has served as basketball coach for more than a decade, piloting the program to multiple District and Region championships.

The "new" coach replaces Angie Vaughn, who resigned in late May after compiling a 116-63 record over five seasons. The Trojanettes won a school-record 30 games in 2010 and are slated to return eight starters in 2011.
