Robinson receives nomination for vacant Senate seat

FRANKFORT — As he predicted, former state senator Albert Robinson of London will be the Republican nominee for the vacated 21st state Senate District.

Robinson, 73, was nominated Thursday night by the district Republican Committee composed of Republican Party officers from each county in the district.

Robinson was chosen over Mike Calebs, who also sought the nomination and will face a yet-to-be nominated Democrat in the Nov. 6 election to replace Republican Sen. Tom Jensen of London. Jensen, who was unopposed for re-election, last week withdrew in order to run instead for circuit judge in the 27th Judicial District.
