Weather conditions lead to wrecks

Two people were sent to T.J. Samson Community Hospital as a result of the snowy roads Monday night. Jimmy L. Runyon, 17, of Glasgow, and Linda M. Jewell, 19, of Cave City, were traveling east on New Bowling Green Road when Runyon lost control of his pickup truck. It overturned and finally came to a stop upside down on the roadway. Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time. They were taken by private means to T.J. Samson where they were treated and released, according to a report by Barren County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Director Trevor Phillips. BCSO deputies responded to a total of nine wrecks Monday night. Two were on Burkesville Road, two on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, one on Scottsville Road, one on Louisville Road, two on New Bowling Green Road and one on Old Bowling Green Road. No serious injuries or fatalities were reported. Road conditions are expected to be dangerous again overnight as rain turns to snow around 4 p.m. and freezes over wet roads, according to AccuWeather reports.
